As a morale booster, the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB) has organised an Appreciation Luncheon for members of the FUNAAB Ceremonials Committee and staff of the Directorate of Public Relations for their exemplary service to the University. Speaking at the occasion, the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Olusola Oyewole restated his vision that FUNAAB would soon become a world-class University, a dream he noted, was fast becoming a reality.
The Vice-Chancellor stated that no leader can fulfill its vision alone without the support of others, as he solicited the cooperation of all in realising the lofty goals and aspirations for the University while lauding members of the Ceremonials Committee and staff of the Directorate of Public Relations for contributing positively to the development of the institution. Commending them for a job well done during the just-concluded 21st and 22nd Convocation Ceremonies and other events in the University, he said: “We appreciate and thank you for the great work you are doing”.
He said, “the Vice-Chancellor can’t do the work of the Vice-Chancellor alone” bearing in mind that the strength of the University lies in the quality of its staff even though “we might not recognise all of you but God recognises you. Continue to do your best”, he added. The Vice-Chancellor used the medium to appreciate other offices for contributing their own quota to the success recorded by the University, as he disclosed that the DPR would soon be relocating to the FUNAAB Ceremonial Building and would oversee the maintenance of the magnificent building.
The immediate past Managing Director of the Bank of Industry (BoI), Dr. (Ms.) Evelyn Oputu, who was just appointed as the University Ambassador, lauded the Vice-Chancellor’s efforts at making FUNAAB a world-class institution, saying that the University’s serene environment was remarkable and that “the cleanliness gives an impression of the kind of people working here”. She noted that there are always two categories of people, stating that there are those who believe that the world owes them something and are, therefore, out to cash-out whereas, there are also some people that believe in giving back to the system. “We have good and bad people in the country but the good people need to take ownership of the country”, promising that, “as I am announced as an Ambassador of the University, I will give my all”.
Responding, the Chairman of CERECOM, Professor Babatunde Idowu, appreciated God for making the last Convocation Ceremonies a huge success. He equally thanked the Vice-Chancellor for his immeasurable support in making the committee to discharge its duties effectively. Professor Idowu also commended the members of CERECOM and DPR, headed by Mrs. Emi’ Alawode, for their unity of purpose and doing the University proud.
