The Vice-Chancellor, Professor Olusola Bandele Oyewole has stressed the need for the University to have more enabling and concrete policy that will address the welfare and better the lots of the less privileged students of the Institution.
Professor Oyewole harped on the need at a meeting with the students of the University, who are less privileged, held at Tony Anenih Hall on Wednesday.
Bordered by the need to improve on their welfare, the Vice-Chancellor said it is high time for the University to give the less privilege students “special consideration” in the area of logistics, financial assistance, employment, participation in extra-curricular activities, among others.
Professor Oyewole pointed out that, it won’t be out of place to set up a Trust Fund to assist the less privilege Students in due course.
Besides, he expressed the readiness of the Management to put in place measures that will check the physical exertion that they face in the course of their academic activities on campus.
The Vice-Chancellor encouraged less privilege students saying, “I want you to know that you can be greater than anybody. All you need is to put in your best and trust in God”.
Earlier on, the students while speaking requested for sponsorship and opportunity to participate in competitions organized by the University, exclusively for them.
