The Management of the University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (UNAAB) has called for more cautionary measures, to be taken by drivers plying the University’s road to prevent road accidents.
In a release, signed by the Director, Executive Affairs (Vice-Chancellor’s Office), Mrs. Christiana Kuforiji and addressed to the Chairman, Drivers’ Association, UNAAB, reads in parts:
- “that the drivers should ensure that their vehicles are serviced monthly or regularly with competent mechanics, paying more attention on the replacement of the fuel filter, changing of the engine oil and in particular, checking of the brakes;
- that the Administrator (Works and Services) should be sent a copy of the proof of servicing the vehicles in addition with the parts replaced in such vehicles; and
- that failure on the part of any driver to heed above cautionary measures would have himself to blame”.
These measures, according to the release were meant to reduce accident rates and increase maintenance culture amongst drivers in the University.
