The University’s Management Committee on Transport (MANCOT), has taken delivery of three brand new 60-Seater TATA buses, to complement the existing transportation fleet for the students.

Speaking at the handing-over of the buses, the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Oluwafemi Olaiya Balogun, who committed the buses into the hands of God, disclosed that the buses were purchased through revenue generated from the Acceptance Fees paid by the newly-admitted students.

Represented by the Dean, Student Affairs, Professor Sam Oluwalana, the Vice-Chancellor appealed to the drivers to take proper care of the buses, adding that the buses must be driven with outmost care.

Professor Oluwalana said it would amount to irresponsibility and recklessness on the part of the drivers if any of the buses record unwarranted dents, saying, “Apart from human lives in the buses that you can’t quantify, all other things in it are quantifiable, so take proper care of it to avoid damages”, he cautioned.

Speaking with FUNAAB Bulletin at the hand-over, the Chairman, MANCOT, who also doubles as the Deputy Dean, Student Affairs, Dr. Samson Awokola, said he was highly elated by the presentation.

Dr. Awokola said the University’s gesture would go a long way at ameliorating the demands of passengers along the Somoorin axis, as the three buses put together has the capacity to convey 300 students at once, whereby 60 of them will be seating and another 40 standing, in each of the buses.

He commended the ingenuity of the Vice-Chancellor for approving regular, monthly servicing agreement with the Offshore Integrated Company Limited (OICL), for the buses, with a revelation that MANCOT would soon be transformed into a full-fledged Bureau of Transportation.
