The Management and the Student Union executive of the University have reached an amicable resolution on critical areas of need for immediate intervention, towards making learning more comfortable in the institution.

To this end, four brand new 60-seater luxury buses and an ambulance would be procured immediately to improve on the student transportation and health care services in the University.

The resolution was sealed during an emergency Management’s meeting last Thursday, of which the Student Union executive, as well as the Dean, Student Affairs, were in attendance.

The Vice-Chancellor, Professor Oluwafemi Olaiya Balogun, had during the meeting noted that the Student Union executive was yet to come up with a proposal for welfare intervention as requested by the Management, saying he had however listed some options that could be considered by the student body.

The Vice-Chancellor listed his options to include, procurement of a new ambulance and four 60-seater buses, complete rehabilitation of the Union Building and the general overhauling of the existing ambulance.

Professor Balogun said the gesture was in line with the tradition of his administration since 2007, “to commit all monies generated through the payment of Acceptance Fee by students to projects that would ease their sufferings and enhance their studentship status”.

Responding, the President of the Student Union, Mr. Abdulkareem Bamigbade, expressed the appreciation of the students to the Vice-Chancellor for his unflinching supports of the cause of the students, saying the gesture would go a long way in improving the lots of his colleagues.

Comrade Bamigbade said, “We appreciate the vision of the Vice-Chancellor. This is even an intervention that was not expected and as such, we agree totally with the Vice-Chancellor’s views”.

The emergency meeting also ratified the need for the provision of a brand new ambulance for the rising student’s population of the Institute for Human Resources Development (INHURD).
