The Vice-Chancellor, Professor Oluwafemi Olaiya Balogun has expressed confidence that his appreciable impact while in office will outlive his tenure.

Professor Balogun sounded confident just as he charged members of the University Community, warming up to replace him to take it easy and not to rock the boat by unnecessarily overheating the polity.

Prof. Balogun said by January next year (2012), the post of the University Vice-Chancellor will be advertised, meaning his tenure is drawing to an end. He however reiterated that his good works would monumentally outlive his tenure.

The Vice-Chancellor expressed joy that since he came on board, his administration’s outstanding impact, has steadily and progressively been on the increase in successive years.

While expressing his firm resolve to sustain the tempo of the geometric progress till the end of his tenure, Prof. Balogun said he would not allow any distraction, no matter how inconsequential to stagnate or slow down the pace of his progress.

Reminding the University Community that he still had 18 months in the saddle as Vice-Chancellor, Professor Balogun pleaded with Vice-Chancellorship hopefuls, to play the game according to the rules and desist from acts capable of truncating the pace of progress and peace in the University. His words, “I want to plead with those thinking of taking over from this Vice-Chancellor, they should play it slowly. We must learn form our past, do not heat the polity”.

He continued, “It is neither a sin nor a crime to be ambitious, but it is a crime and also sinful if such is threatening or affecting the progress of the University”.

The Vice-Chancellor, however, commended the students populace for conducting themselves orderly and excellently since he assumed office.

Professor Balogun warned the students to be cautious of their conducts and not allow politicians to use them as tools of destruction during the forthcoming general elections in the country.
