The Vice-Chancellor, Professor Oluwafemi Olaiya Balogun has assured that he will not leave any abandoned project for his successor.
Prof. Balogun gave the assurance just as the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Ogun State Council conferred on him, Honorary Membership of the ‘pen profession’, based on his achievements in office and support for the body. Fielding questions from newsmen at a Media Dinner held at the Sweet Sensation Hall, Oke-Ilewo, Abeokuta, Professor Balogun assured that his successor will not inherit any abandoned project after the expiration of his tenure.

Reacting to question on whether he has anointed candidate as successor, Prof. Balogun responded to the contrary.
The Vice-Chancellor stressed that the choice of a successor goes beyond him, adding that he can only pray that God should give the University a good successor that will be able to continue with the current developmental streak in the University.
Besides, Prof. Balogun said it is extremely difficult for any Vice-Chancellor to install a successor because Vice-Chancellorship is a divine opportunity.
According to him, “When you have more than hundred Professors, only twenty of them can be Vice-Chancellors in a century. Therefore, if you have the opportunity to be a Vice-Chancellor, you won’t want to truncate that glory because of succession”, he added.
Prof. Balogun said he would be returning to his former place of work, University of Ilorin after his tenure in UNAAB.
Meanwhile, the Ogun State Council of NUJ, has honoured Professor Balogun with the honourary membership of the body.

The Chairman of the Ogun State Council of the NUJ, Comrade. Tunde Shodeke, disclosed this at the Media Dinner organized for journalists by Professor Balogun, in appreciation of the support of journalists for his administration.
The Chairman said Prof. Balogun’s investiture will hold later in October, adding that the honour was in recognition of his achievements in UNAAB and contributions to NUJ.
