The Nimbe Adedipe Library (NAL) has undergone a comprehensive renovation aimed at enhancing the learning experience. The upgrade included the introduction of new chairs and contemporary study tables.
Appreciating the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Babatunde Kehinde for his support always, the University Librarian, Prof. Abayomi Owolabi, highlighted the significance of a well-equipped and comfortable library in supporting academic success. “A conducive reading environment can greatly enhance students’ performance,” he noted.
He stressed that the Library currently featured over 35 electronic resources, including J-Gate, which allowed students and staff seamless access to scholarly materials from any location, at any time. Prof. Owolabi emphasised the essential role of academic libraries in ensuring timely and accurate information access, regardless of geographical boundaries.
Prof. Owolabi, who has extensive experience in Library Development both locally and internationally, shared his commitment to creating a library that meets global standards. “My vision is for the Nimbe Adedipe Library to become a benchmark of excellence,” he stated.
He noted that the University was expecting the arrival of over 1,000 new books in preparation for the upcoming Accreditation Exercises, adding that the Library’s Institutional Repository (IR) would play a key role in boosting research visibility and showcasing student theses, College publications, and research projects. This addition, he said, would contribute to enhanced citations and reinforce FUNAAB’s standing as a leading University in agricultural education and research in Africa.
Prof. Owolabi, however, expressed his gratitude to TETFund, the Library Management Committee, and the dedicated Library staff for their invaluable support in driving this transformative initiative.
