The Cooperative Welfare Scheme of the Non-Academic Staff Union of Educational and Associated Institutions (NASU), Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB) Branch, has recorded significant financial growth, during the 10th Annual General Meeting (AGM), held today, March 25, 2026.
The meeting, which was held at the Comrade Isiaq Odunjo NASU Hall, brought together union members, executives, and key stakeholders who reviewed the cooperative’s activities, assessed its financial performance, and outlined strategic plans for sustained progress.
Speaking at the AGM, the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Babatunde Kehinde, who was represented by the Senior Deputy Registrar, Vice-Chancellor’s Office, Mr. Moses Ayanda, lauded the indispensable contributions of staff, particularly those responsible for the maintenance of physical infrastructure. He emphasised that their efforts were vital to ensuring the safety of lives and property on campus, while urging all staff to uphold professionalism, responsibility, and strong family values. He also encouraged improved performance among underperforming staff, while commending others for their diligence.

In his Goodwill Message, the Registrar, Dr. Titus Adeniyi, represented by a Deputy Registrar, Mrs. Sakirat Giwa, stressed the importance of teamwork, solidarity, and cooperation in achieving the University’s strategic objectives.
In the same vein, the Bursar, Mr. Olukayode Osinuga, who was represented by Mr. Vincent Egbuna, called for stronger collaboration between the cooperative and University Management to sustain institutional growth.
Earlier, the Chairman of the union, Comrade Samson Edvri, commended staff across various units for their dedication and commitment. He noted that despite operational challenges, the cooperative had remained resilient, achieving steady growth over the years. He restated the Scheme’s commitment to enhancing staff welfare, promoting unity, and contributing meaningfully to the development of the University.
Corroborating the Branch Chairman, the Ogun State NASU Chairman, Mr. John Rasak, commended the branch leadership for their dedication, loyalty, and effective coordination of cooperative activities. He acknowledged the support of the union’s national leadership and the State Council, noting that the AGM has provided an opportunity to celebrate milestones, reflect on challenges, and chart a forward-looking path.
Also speaking, the Chairman of the FUNAAB Cooperative, Mr. Oluwafemi Owoade, represented by Mr. Sunday Adegbola, emphasised the need for sustained collaboration, shared responsibility, and mutual support among members to strengthen the union and enhance welfare initiatives.

Speakers at the event also reflected on the cooperative’s journey, recalling periods of operational difficulties that tested its resilience. They attributed its current success to unity, collective effort, and commitment, while encouraging members to prioritise quality service delivery as a catalyst for continued growth and sustainability.
The AGM concluded on a positive note, with prayers for continued growth, unity, and cooperation. Members reaffirmed their commitment to advancing the objectives of the NASU Cooperative Welfare Scheme and contributing to the overall development of FUNAAB Community, while upholding integrity, professionalism, and shared values.
