Newly Inaugurated PGSA Executives Visit VC, Seek Enhanced Collaboration

The newly inaugurated Executive Council of the Postgraduate Students’ Association (PGSA), Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB), today, July 29, 2025, paid a Courtesy Visit to the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Babatunde Kehinde, to express their commitment to fostering stronger collaboration with the University Administration.

The Vice-Chancellor was represented by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic), Prof. Olukayode Akinyemi, who warmly received the delegation and reiterated the University’s dedication to inclusive governance, particularly for Postgraduate students.

The Vice-Chancellor assured the PGSA leadership that Management remained committed to engaging Postgraduate students in meaningful dialogue and decision-making processes. In this regard, he disclosed that representatives of the Association would be granted seats at the regular Heads of Colleges (HoC) meetings, as well as other relevant stakeholder forums within the University.

On the issue of employment opportunities for Postgraduate students, the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic) explained that several students were already engaged as Demonstrators in various Departments, receiving monthly stipends for their services. He added that the University has continued to explore additional openings for Postgraduate students to contribute meaningfully within the system.

He also assured the visiting executives that the University was making concerted efforts to address concerns around delays in academic programmes. According to him, steps were being taken to establish a fast-track, time-bound academic calendar that would ensure Postgraduate students, both domestic and international, complete their programmes within a clearly defined duration.

Responding, the executives jointly appreciated the warm reception and responsiveness of the University Management.
