The Nigeria Safety Cadet, Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB), has successfully organised its 2025/2026 Annual Safety Week, aimed at promoting safety consciousness, discipline, leadership, and civic responsibility among students and members of the University Community.
The week-long programme, held recently, featured a series of physical, intellectual, and community-based activities designed to strengthen the operational readiness of cadets while fostering a culture of safety on campus. The event was coordinated under the leadership of Cadet Soyinka Omosewa.
Activities commenced with intensive cadet training and parade drills, which focused on physical conditioning, safety protocol simulations, and tactical exercises. The sessions recorded impressive participation from cadets, while reinforcing teamwork, discipline, endurance, and emergency response skills required for safety operations within the University environment.

As part of the programme, a seminar themed, “Discipline as a Tool for Personal and National Development,” was organised for cadets and students. Guest speakers and Command leaders delivered insightful lectures on the importance of discipline in personal growth, organisational effectiveness, and national development. The interactive session also provided participants the opportunity to engage in discussions on security consciousness and ethical conduct.
In furtherance of its community service efforts, members of the Command carried out the repainting of the zebra crossing at the Motion Ground area of the University to promote pedestrian safety on campus.
The grand finale featured a Valedictory and Awards Ceremony, marking the official close of the 2025/2026 administrative regime. Delivering the valedictory address, the Command leadership highlighted major achievements recorded during the tenure, challenges encountered, and the enduring legacy of the outgoing officers.
During the event, outstanding cadets were honoured with Certificates of Excellence in recognition of their exceptional academic performance, while successful participants in the safety training cycle received Certificates of Completion. The certificates were presented by the Ag. Head, Directorate of Public Relations and one of the Staff Advisers of the Club, Mr. Olasunkanmi Olajide.
A major highlight of the occasion was the decoration of Mrs. Oluwakemi Fashina as the Grand Matron of the Nigeria Safety Cadet in recognition of her support and contributions to the Command.
