Nimbe Adedipe Library Hosts Training on Grant-winning and Research Proposal Writing

The ‘Nimbe Adedipe Library of the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB) is deeply committed to pursuing its mandate of providing information resources in various global and digital formats to support teaching, learning and research vital to the sustenance of the present impressive ranking of the FUNAAB in the comity of tertiary institutions in the continent.

This was disclosed by the University Librarian, Dr. Kehinde Abayomi Owolabi at a training session on Grant-winning and research proposal writing organized for Academic Librarians and other Library personnel who are presently studying for Higher Degrees in Librarianship.

The training was, however, not limited to staff of the Library, as other members of the Academic Staff from across Colleges and Departments who registered interests were in attendance.

Dr. Owolabi assured that the University Library under his watch will do more by working towards the sustenance of the visibility of the university, through continual provision of the requisite knowledge base of global practices in research.

He explained that this was the reason behind why the Library, in less than two months of his assumption of duty, had organised six different programnes geared towards the provision of information resources and services to the University populace

He thanked the facilitators of the training session immensely for the knowledge imparted into the participants.

He also advised participants to avoid publishing in predatory journals, promising to always post on the academic platform, reputable publishing outlets.

Dr. J. A. Oyedepo, the Deputy Director of IFSERAR, facilitated the training and dished out the nitty-gritty of writing grant-winning proposals and how to source for Funding Agencies who are always willing to fund researches.

He also explained the loopholes that Grantees must avoid in order not to have their proposals turned down by Grantors.

He also harped on an important factor that boosts the credentials of researchers, which Grantors always look out for, which is the possession of the Open Researcher and Contributor ID (ORCID).

He advised that all should ensure they create their ORCIDs and subsequently populate it with their publications and information on all grants previously won.
