In a bold move towards digital transformation and global best practices, the Nimbe Adedipe Library, Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB), has launched an Electronic Library Pass (E-Pass) system for all its users.
The new E-Pass, equipped with a barcode feature, facilitates seamless user identification, access authentication, and activity tracking, thereby improving efficiency, security, and user convenience within the Library.
Speaking on the innovation, the University Librarian, Prof. Abayomi Owolabi, expressed deep appreciation to the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Babatunde Kehinde, for his steadfast support and approval which brought the initiative to fruition. He also commended the Ag. Director, Directorate of Information and Communication Technology Services (DICTS), Mr. Temitope Soretire, for his technical expertise and commitment to the project’s success.
Prof. Owolabi lauded the entire Library team for their cooperation, dedication, and teamwork throughout the development and testing phases, noting that the E-Pass represents a significant stride in the Library’s ongoing digital transformation agenda.
He proudly stated that with this innovation, the Nimbe Adedipe Library now joins the ranks of a select number of university libraries in Nigeria offering such advanced services, further aligning FUNAAB with international standards in library automation and digital service delivery.
