The Nimbe Adedipe Library of the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB) Library has undergone a significant transformation, positioning itself as a modern hub for research and learning. With state-of-the-art facilities, expanded resources, and enhanced services, the Library is redefining the academic experience for students and staff alike.

Speaking on the upgraded facilities, the University Librarian, Prof. Abayomi Owolabi, shared insights into the groundbreaking changes, emphasising their importance in fostering academic excellence. Among the Library’s recent achievements, he stated, was the subscription to over 60 academic databases, designed to bolster the quality and depth of research at the University. He noted that the initiative was expected to enhance the institution’s research output while providing students and staff with seamless access to vital academic resources on mobile devices anytime, anywhere.

In addition to digital advancements, the Library’s physical infrastructure has been revamped to create a conducive environment for scholarship. Newly installed ergonomic furniture, advanced circulation desks, and Radio Frequency Identification (RFID)-enabled systems were part of the upgrades, reflecting the University’s intense commitment to integrating technology into its academic framework.

According to the University Librarian, the adoption of a sophisticated Library Management System (LMS) marked another milestone, simplifying access to Library materials and streamlining operational efficiency. He stated further that the user-friendly system demonstrated FUNAAB’s dedication to leveraging technology to support academic pursuits. New acquisitions of books and journals further underscore the Library’s commitment to offering diverse and current academic materials, he stressed.

Prof. Owolabi hinted that Nimbe Adedipe Library also reinforced its status as a dynamic academic hub by hosting 28 impactful programmes within the year. Additionally, the integration of the DSpace platform has enhanced the global visibility of FUNAAB’s research, ensuring the University’s contributions are accessible to the international academic community.

Expressing gratitude for the unwavering support of the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Babatunde Kehinde, the University Librarian affirmed that these accomplishments were made possible through strategic planning and a shared commitment to fostering academic growth.

With these enhancements, the Nimbe Adedipe Library is poised to continue serving as a cornerstone of knowledge and a catalyst for intellectual development.
