The Nigerian Mining and Geoscience Society (NMGS) is set to inaugurate its Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB) Chapter on Wednesday, September 16, 2026, by 11:00 a.m. at the Red Chamber, as part of activities marking its maiden meeting at the University.
The Welfare Coordinator of the Society, Dr. Benedicta Ukah, disclosed this, noting that the event is expected to bring together professionals in the mining and geoscience sectors, academic researchers, students and other stakeholders from within and outside the University.
According to her, the meeting is aimed at promoting the advancement of mining and geoscience in Nigeria, while providing a platform for networking, knowledge sharing and professional collaboration among stakeholders.
Dr. Ukah further noted that the inauguration of the FUNAAB Chapter would strengthen the Society’s presence within the University and foster greater interaction among academics, industry professionals and students in the mining and geoscience disciplines.
She added that the initiative would also provide opportunities for students and early-career professionals to engage with practitioners in the field and gain insights into developments and career opportunities in mining and geoscience.
