The Vice Chancellor, Professor Kolawole Salako has been honoured as a Patron of the Nigerian Union of Journalists (NUJ) Ogun State Council.
The award which was conferred on the Vice Chancellor at the Gala and Award night of the 2018 Ogun NUJ Press Week was in recognition of his immeasurable support and contribution to the Fourth Estate of the Realm.
According to the Chairman, NUJ Ogun State Council, Comrade Wole Shokunbi, the award night was to honour the awardees for their immense contribution in their respective endeavours.
He described Abeokuta, viz-a-viz Ogun State as the cradle for media practice in the Country with the first newspaper in Nigeria, Iwe Irohin, established by the late Bishop Henry Townsend, hence, the need for the profession to continue to glow.
Consequently, the Chairman charged all Journalists in Ogun State to always remember the ethics of their profession and the integrity of Journalism.
Earlier in his remarks, the Chairman of the Occasion and Commissioner of Police, Ogun State, Mr. Ahmed Iliyasu also joined NUJ in commending the Vice Chancellor for his outstanding contributions to security in the State urging him to keep up the good work as peace and security requires the joint cooperation of all.
In his response on behalf of other awardees, the Vice Chancellor thanked Ogun State NUJ for the award, while describing them as friends and partners in progress.
