The former President of Nigeria, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo, paid a surprise inspection visit to the University of Agriculture, Abeokuta, last Thursday.

At the end of the exercise, Chief Obasanjo summed-up his impression with an admission that he was highly impressed by what he saw during the inspection.

“What I have seen here today has conquered me. Not only that, it has vindicated me”, said Chief Obasanjo.

The former President, accompanied by his wife, Chief (Mrs.) Bola Obasanjo, was for about four hours conducted round project sites, located across the expanse of the University’s land, by the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Oluwafemi Olaiya Balogun.
The inspection which commenced from the UNAAB International School saw the special guest with a large retinue of University officials, visiting projects in the Zoological Garden, Sports and International Scholars Centres as well as auditoria, hostels and administrative buildings. Other places visited included the Executive Lodges of the Chancellor, Pro-Chancellor and the Vice-Chancellor, the Farm Centre and the Institute for Human Resource Development.
A relaxed-looking Chief Obasanjo could be seen nodding admiration all through the exercise, while he was caught at a particular interval betraying emotions, when he muted, “This is great”.
