Ogun NIPR to Honour FUNAAB for Excellence in CSR

The Ogun State Chapter of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR) would on October 3, 2024, at its 2024 Colloquium to be held at the June 12 Cultural Centre, Kutọ, honour the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB), with an Award of Excellence in Corporate Social Responsibility for its notable contributions to Teaching, Research and Extension Services.

The Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Babatunde Kehinde, while receiving the Chapter’s Executives on September 17, 2024, in the Vice-Chancellor’s Conference Room, expressed his appreciation for the honour, highlighting the critical role Public Relations has been playing in addressing societal challenges, such as food security.

He also reaffirmed FUNAAB’s commitment to partnering with the NIPR and confirmed his participation at the Colloquium.

Giving the rationale behind the Award, the Chairman of the 2024 Colloquium Strategic Planning Committee, Mr. Olufemi Dokunmu revealed that the Committee recognised the University’s efforts in producing and distributing farm produce responsibly to mitigate food scarcity and inflation. He added that the Committee commended FUNAAB’s dedication as an agric-based institution, offering its farm produce as a responsible corporate organisation to help address scarcity and inflation in the food sector, as a way to care for the community.

Earlier, the Chairperson of the Ogun NIPR, Mrs. Oluwaseun Boye extended her gratitude to the Vice-Chancellor for the warm reception, adding that the Institute was also inviting the Vice-Chancellor to serve as the Lead Speaker at the Colloquium themed, “Galvanising Public and Private Stakeholders Towards Addressing Food Crisis in Nigeria: Public Relations as a Key Driver.”

Highpoint was the presentation of Letters of Award and Invitation to the Vice-Chancellor.

Present at the meeting were the Deputy Registrar II, Vice-Chancellor’s Office, Mr. Moses Ayanda; Ag. Head, Directorate of Public Relations, Mr. Olasunkanmi Olajide, and other members of the Ogun NIPR delegation, including the Secretary, Mr. Kunle Olayeni; Treasurer, Mrs. Adijat Olaleye and Miss Mayowa Alawode.
