God, the Almighty has promised to make the University great, especially, in the next four years and bless all members of the University Community abundantly.

The Vice-Chancellor, Professor Olusola Oyewole disclosed the divine revelation while addressing guests and members of the University Community, who massively attended a Thanksgiving Service, marking his first year in office held at the Professor Mahmood Yakubu Lecture Theatre.

Professor Oyewole, a Shepherd in the Lord’s Vineyard revealed that while communing with the Almighty, he told him that He (God) had made a covenant with FUNAAB for the next four years, in particular.

According to the Vice-Chancellor, God’s covenant with FUNAAB is found in the Book of Genesis, Chapter 12 verses 1 to 2, which Professor Oyewole read out to the congregation:

“And I will make of thee a great University, and I will bless thee, and make thy name great; and thou shalt be a blessing. And I will bless them that bless thee; and in thee shall the families of “FUNAAB” be blessed”.

Speaking further, Professor Oyewole attributed all the accomplishments of his administration in the year to a fulfillment of the covenant the Almighty made with him on the verge of his assumption of office.

He declared that nobody, not even himself can lay claim to the success story so far, pointing out that it was God that did it using the Management, Senate, Unions, Staff, Students and other stakeholders.

His words, “God gave me a covenant and everything that has been happening (achievements) is in line with that covenant. It is not the work of any man, God did it using all, well-meaning members of the University community”.

The Vice-Chancellor, therefore, declared that “because God is at work I cannot fail and I’m not afraid of challenges because no challenge can be greater than God”.

Professor Oyewole, who admonished those he called Sanbalat and Tobiah (Biblical characters who opposed the works of God), to have a change of heart and joined him in moving the University forward.

The Vice-Chancellor informed that he deliberately chose not to reel out his achievements to the gathering but to rather lead them in showing appreciation to the Almighty through praise and worship.

He thanked fellow Principal Officers, Senate, Staff, Students, the Unions and the entire members of the University community for their unflinching support and unalloyed cooperation in the last one year.

Professor Oyewole enjoined them to support and cooperate with him in the next four years by rededicating themselves to duties by imbibing the virtues of transparency, fairness, accountability and justice.

On his part, the Vice-Chancellor promised that he won’t relent on his oars but will re-invigorate afresh and expedite action in pursuance of his vision and mission to move the University to a greater height.

Earlier in his Exhortation, taken from the Book of Isaiah Chapter 1 Verse 19, “If ye are willing and obedient, ye shall eat the fruit of the land”, Professor Isaac Ayelaagbe charged members of the University to be obedient to God in their daily life in order to enjoy the divine prosperity in FUNAAB and the world at large.

He pointed out that obedience to God is not optional but rather His commandment to mankind.

Special prayers were offered for progress and protection of the University, Council, Management, Staff, Students, Unions, the Vice-Chancellor and his family.
