The Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB), today, November 29, 2024, honoured the departed pioneer Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Nurudeen Olorun-Nimbe Adedipe with a special Jumat Service held at the University Mosque. The event, celebrating Prof. Adedipe’s enduring impact drew a large attendance from the University Community, reflecting the profound respect for the late Professor’s legacy.

In his sermon, the representative of the Chief Imam, Prof. Sharafdeen Abdul Kareem underscored the significance of leaving a lasting legacy, drawing inspiration from the Quran. He highlighted the enduring value of imparting beneficial knowledge, like engaging in community service and making meaningful contributions to humanity. Using examples such as digging a well, planting fruitful trees, building a mosque, and authoring impactful books, he urged the congregation to embrace these acts as pathways to securing a positive legacy.
He reminded attendees that Almighty Allah rewards individuals based on their actions and intentions. Paying tribute to the memories of Prof. Adedipe, he described him as a competent, trustworthy, and knowledgeable leader who was resolute and non-vindictive in his decision-making. He called on the Muslim faithful to emulate these admirable qualities.

In his Address to the faithful, the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Babatunde Kehinde, who was represented by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Development), Prof. Kola Adebayo, expressed gratitude to the University Community for their support during Prof. Adedipe’s burial. He prayed for the repose of the late Professor’s soul, urging everyone to strive to lay strong and impactful foundations during their lifetime.
Speaking also, the Deputy Amir of the FUNAAB Muslim Community, Prof. Abdul Akeem Agboola, appreciated the late Prof. Adedipe as a principled and firm leader who made invaluable contributions to the University Community. He, therefore, appreciated the Vice-Chancellor for his support during Prof. Adedipe’s burial.
In his message to the Muslim Community, Arc. Abdul-Afeez Akiode, pioneer Director of the Directorate of Physical Planning, extolled Prof. Adedipe’s virtues, emphasising the importance of documenting achievements as Prof. Adedipe had done. He encouraged attendees to maintain detailed records of their accomplishments for posterity.

Meanwhile, Prof. Adedipe died on Wednesday, November 13, 2024, and was buried the next day according to Islamic rites. The 8th Day Fidau Prayer, held in his honour, was hosted at the Musical Village, Ikorodu, on Thursday, November 21, 2024.
The special Jumat Service was a heartfelt homage to the enduring impact of Prof. Adedipe’s contributions to FUNAAB. His legacy continues to inspire the University Community, serving as a beacon of excellence and a call to action for all to leave positive, lasting imprints on their communities and beyond.

Prominent attendees included the former President,
National Council Of Muslim Youth Organisations (NACOMYO), Alhaji Kamaldeen Akintunde; former University Librarian, Dr. Mulikat Salaam, including several retired staff like Alhaji Tajudeen Babs Alabi and Alhaji Kamaldeen Adedo. Others were Mr. Mubashir Adejo and Mr. Olufemi Solarin, including members of Prof. Adedipe’s family and many Muslim faithful.
