The University Counselor, Mrs. Modesta Ofodile, has advised Parents and Guardians of prospective students to be prayerful, as this would help in securely establishing their children on a sound footing while pursuing their academic goals.
Speaking at an interactive session between the Parents/Guardians and the University’s Management in front of the Public Relations Office Complex, Mrs Ofodile stated that students must learn to read and pass on their own without the aid of “mercenaries”.
Enlightening the parents and guardians on the processes of UNAAB admission, she declared that, parents and guardians must ensure that their children attend the orientation programme after eventually securing admission, as this would help in acquainting them with the ‘dos and don’ts’ in the University, ranging from dress code, cultism, sexual harassment, drug abuse, examination malpractices etc.
Ofodile further disclosed that parents and guardians should pay unscheduled visits to their children on campus, noting that, this will undoubtedly help in having an undisguised appraisal of their wards dispositions and behaviours.
She called for parents’ understanding in promptly notifying the University of noticed anti-social behaviors, stressing that, reporting such acts would not make the child to be expelled but rather help to better the lot of the student through counseling.
