Prepared To Sing In Heaven –FUNAAB Chaplain

Published On:

June 24, 2021

Christians have been charged to prepare to sing in heaven to God for eternal bliss because it is one of the greatest blessings that can happen to any man.

The Chaplain, Chapel of Grace, FUNAAB, Prof. Christian Ikeobi made this submission while delivering a Sermon titled, “Prepare Yourself To Sing In Heaven” at the FUNAAB Community Hymn Singing (FCHS), organised by The Boys Brigade Nigeria, FUNAAB Cadet.

He encouraged everyone to cultivate the habit of singing praises to God always, noting that it is uplifting to be in God’s presence singing to His glory.

While describing heaven as the dwelling place of God where hymns and songs are sang to celebrate the goodness of God, he disclosed that most of the hymns have their root in the words of God.

Prof. Ikeobi admonished the congregation to always reflect on how beautiful it will be to worship and sing to God in heaven for eternity, stressing that irrespective of the time a man lives on earth, the most important thing is to live with God in eternity, singing to him and praising him forever.

He further encouraged all to repent and confess their sins in order to sing and be of good service to God, stating that singing to God on earth without giving one’s life to Christ is a waste of time.

According to him, “one of the greatest ways to be qualified to sing and be of service to God is to repent and confess your sins because anything one does for God before repentance does not measure up to Him and it is just a waste of time”.

The Chaplain however called on everyone to repent and invite Jesus into their lives, stating that God wants all to have rest in order to rest in His bosom for eternity.

Meanwhile, the Vice- Chancellor, Prof. Kolawole Salako represented by the Deputy Dean, Student Affairs, Dr. Adeboye Fafiolu also admonished the congregation to always exhibit the fruit of the Spirit, noting that the standard of God remains forever.

He charged all Christian students present to be sure of their salvation and avoid introducing modernity into the things of God.

Earlier, Captain-In-Charge, The Boys Brigade Nigeria, FUNAAB Cadet, Ayoola Victor while speaking on the essence of the event disclosed that Community Hymn Singing is an event where great crowds gather to sing in harmony with instruments featuring hymns with brass, woodwind, string instruments and other musical instruments.

He further described FCHS as a Spiritual Programme which brings together people in the FUNAAB Community and its environment under the atmosphere of Worship to sing songs of praise, adding that it is also to remind all of the death, burial, resurrection and second coming of Christ.

He however appreciated the entire workforce of the Chapel for their hard work and dedication, stating that they were able to put all the programme together because of their support.

Highlight of the event was rendition of various hymns by the orchestra team and the Choir, the cutting of cake in celebration of the Boys Brigade 10 years Anniversary and a Prayer Session for Nigeria and the University Community.

Also Present at the event was the Deputy Vice Chancellor (Academic), Prof. Bolanle Akeredolu-Ale represented by Dean, College of Biological Sciences (COLBIOS), Prof. Oluseyi Akinloye, Chairman, ASUU FUNAAB, Dr. Gbenga Adeleye, Matron, Student Union Government and the Vice President FUNAAB Alumni Body, Mrs. Olukemi Fasina, and staff advisers, among others.
