The Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria (Third Alteration Act) of 2010, has been assented to by the President and Commander-in-Chief of the Nigerian Armed Forces, Dr. Goodluck Ebele Jonathan.

By the alteration, the National Industrial Court is now constitutionally recognized as a Superior Court of Record and would henceforth be addressed as THE NATIONAL INDUSTRIAL COURT OF NIGERIA.

An official memo, issued by the President of the National Industrial Court of Nigeria, Hon. Justice B.A. Adejumo, said the alteration took effect from March 4, 2011 and called on University staff, particularly lecturers, to keep abreast of the development.

Hon. Adejumo disclosed that details of the alteration are contained in the Federal Republic of Nigeria Official Gazette, No. 20, Lagos, of March 7, 2011. Vol. 98, Government Notice No. 103.
