The Vice-Chancellor, University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (UNAAB), Professor Oluwafemi Olaiya Balogun has again exhibited his knack for planning, thoroughness, transparency and timeliness, while serving as the Electoral Returning Officer at the just concluded Presidential elections.

Equipped with these virtues, Professor Balogun breasted the tape ahead of others, to emerge as the first Returning Officer to present the result of the collated votes of the Presidential elections, in his domain, Ogun State,  to the Chairman of the Independent Electoral Commission (INEC), Professor Atahiru Jega, at the National Coalition Centre, Abuja.

As a result of Professor Balogun’s prompt release and submission of the elections result, the result of the Presidential polls in Ogun State became the first to be officially announced to Nigerians through the media.

Discussants on several Radio and Television Live Programmes, applauded the timely collation and methodology of presentation, demonstrated by Professor Balogun.

Having set the pace, other Returning Officers, who were mostly serving Vice-Chancellors, had to adopt his style of presentation, to the delight of expectant Nigerians, who stayed glued to their TV sets for updates of election results.
