Members of the Presidential Visitation Panel to the University, in continuation of their assessment of the institution, embarked on a tour of the facilities and on-going projects in the University.

The Panel Chairman, Professor Ochapa Onazi noted that the tour was an eye-opener to the massive developmental efforts of the current University’s administration, noting that what they saw was quite impressive.

The Chairman, who commended the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Oluwafemi Olaiya Balogun, for his exemplary leadership quality, said such spirit was required of all administrators, in order to build a virile nation.

Prof. Onazi said “on a long run, we are quite happy with what we have seen”, as he expressed willingness to come back, to behold the beauty of some of the projects, like the 2,500-Seater auditorium, when they would have been completed.

Another Panel member, Arch. Kester Ifeadi, also lauded Professor Balogun for his efforts, noting that the Vice-Chancellor “is not just building, but laying a legacy and foundation for the future”.

The tour, which commenced at the Institute for Human Resources Development (INHURD), ended at the 2,500-Seater auditorium, under construction.

Some of the projects visited by the members included the Institute for Human Resources and
Development (INHURD); Institute of Food Security, Environmental Resources and Agricultural Research (IFSERAR); the Farm Centre, which encompasses various projects such as the Agro Market Phase 1; Livestock Processing Complex; Lecture Rooms; Restaurant for Farm-Based Staff; Comfort Station; Ultra Modern Goat and Sheep House; Cattle Shed; Poultry for Broilers; Accommodation for Farm Labour and Supervisors, among others.

Others include the ‘Green Roof Area’, comprising the new Postgraduate School Building; College of Food and Human Ecology (COLFHEC) Building; the 2,000-capacity Lecture Theatre and the 500-Seater Computer Laboratory; Phase 2 of the College of Environmental Resources Management (COLERM) Building and the Biotechnology Centre and Laboratories.

The rest included the Cafeteria; the Male and Female Hostels, donated by the Speaker of the Federal House of Representatives, Hon. Dimeji Bankole and the twin Unity Buildings, which has one of it, also donated by the Honourable Speaker; the International Scholars’ Exchange Centre and the 2,500-seater Auditorium.
