The Federal Government has instituted the Presidential Special Scholarship Scheme for Innovation and Development (PRESSID), to sponsor First Class graduates of recognised and approved Universities to postgraduate studies in top Twenty-Five (25) Universities around the world.The Scheme is aimed at developing a critical mass of professionals, who would serve as catalysts for change and agents of scientific and technological advancement towards a sustainable economic development.
The Scheme, which was established in January 2012, has awarded a total of Two Hundred and Five (205) scholarships in the two editions. The third edition, for the 2015/2016 Academic Session is currently on-going. Eligibility for the Scheme requires that candidates must:

Be graduates from the 2011/2012 and 2012/2013 academic sessions and should have completed their National Youth Service (NYSC) programme by October 2014;

Have obtained First Class Honours Degrees from any recognised and approved University in the fields of Science, Medicine, Veterinary Medicine, Basic Medical Sciences, Pharmaceutical Sciences, Accounting/Actuarial Science, Economics, Engineering, Computing and Information Technology;

Not be more than Thirty (30) years of age by October 2014;

Be computer-literate; and

Be ready to be bonded and to work, preferably, as Academic Staff in any public University or Research Institute, for a minimum period of Five (5) years.
