The Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of the Governing Council of the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB), HRM Oba Rasheed Ayotunde Olabomi, Odundun IV, Asoludero, the Aragbiji of Iragbiji Land, has laid the foundation of a landmark multi-storey Administrative Complex, signalling a major stride in the University’s infrastructural development drive.
The foundation-laying ceremony for the proposed 68-room administrative edifice took place on January 31, 2026, with the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Babatunde Kehinde, and other Principal Officers of the University in attendance.
Designed to be the tallest and one of the most iconic structures on campus upon completion, the multi-storey complex is expected to centralise key administrative operations while providing a modern, efficient, and accessible work environment for staff. The building would also be equipped with an elevator to enhance inclusivity and ease of movement.
Speaking at the turning of the sod ceremony, the Pro-Chancellor commended the University Management, led by Prof. Kehinde, for its prudent financial management and effective project supervision, which, he noted, have ensured steady infrastructural growth across the campus. He stressed the need for quality assurance and timely delivery, charging the contractor to strictly adhere to approved specifications, deploy original materials, and complete the project within the stipulated timeframe. He added that the Governing Council would undertake a progress inspection of the project in March.
As part of the visit, the Pro-Chancellor, alongside the Vice-Chancellor, also inspected the University’s unused swimming pool facility, which was constructed in 2010. Oba Olabomi urged the University Management to prioritise the rehabilitation of the facility to restore it for recreational use by staff. The Pro-Chancellor also inspected the proposed site of the residential quarters for Govening Council members.
The event was graced by other Top University officials, including the Registrar, Dr. Titus Adeniyi; the Bursar, Mr. Olukayode Osinuga, and the Director, Directorate of Physical Planning, Engr. Kehinde Bamisile, among others.
