The Pro-Chancellor and Chairman, Governing Council, HRM Oba Abdur-Rasheed Ayotunde Olabomi, Odundun IV Asoludero, the Aragbiji of Iragbiji Land, led a high-level delegation on an official visit to the Chancellor, His Royal Eminence, Edidem Ekpo Okon Abasi Otu V, the Obong of Calabar, today, Tuesday, December 3, 2024.
The delegation included the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Babatunde Kehinde, and the newly appointed Principal Officers, the Registrar, Dr. Titus Adeniyi, and the Bursar, Mr. Olukayode Osinuga.
In his Remarks, the Pro-Chancellor expressed profound gratitude to the Chancellor for his unwavering support and invaluable guidance to the University over the years. He highlighted some pressing challenges, particularly the deplorable state of the road leading to the University, which had caused significant hardship for staff, students, and the host community. However, he was pleased to announce that the Ogun State Government and Senator Shuaib Afolabi Salisu had approved the road for repairs.
Earlier, the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Babatunde Kehinde, stated that FUNAAB was uniquely privileged to have two distinguished Royal Fathers at the helm of its affairs, a distinction he described as unparalleled among universities in the country.
He expressed heartfelt appreciation to the Chancellor for his unwavering support over the years, stressing that the Chancellor’s fatherly guidance and advice had been instrumental in the University’s numerous achievements.
Prof. Kehinde, therefore, formally extended an invitation to the Chancellor for the University’s forthcoming 32nd Convocation Ceremony, scheduled to be held in January 2025, and requested him to preside over it.
Responding, the Chancellor, congratulated the new officers on their appointments and charged them to serve with diligence and unwavering patriotism. He further encouraged them to contribute meaningfully to the progress and development of FUNAAB.
Meanwhile, the delegation also paid a Courtesy Visit to the Governor of Cross River State, Prince Bassey Edet Otu, at his Office. During the visit, discussions focused on fostering collaborative initiatives between FUNAAB and Cross River State.
