The newly sworn-in Executives of the Students’ Union Government (SUG), Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB), today, June 24, 2025, paid a Courtesy Visit to the Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of the Governing Council, His Royal Majesty, Oba Rasheed Ayotunde Olabomi, Odundun IV, the Aragbiji of Iragbiji Land at the Council Chamber.
The delegation, led by the Union President, Comrade Isaiah Olamilekan (popularly known as Lekkyjoe), expressed gratitude for the Pro-Chancellor’s inspirational leadership and consistent support for student welfare and development.

Admonishing the new student leaders, the Pro-Chancellor congratulated them on their emergence and applauded their initiative to engage with the University’s highest governing authority. He described the students of FUNAAB as “Ambassadors of excellence,” noting that their conduct and achievements across Nigeria and beyond have continually brought pride to the University.
The Pro-Chancellor seized the opportunity to remind the students of the enviable track record that FUNAAB continues to build, stating that “Only recently, FUNAAB was ranked among the Top 10 universities in Nigeria, outperforming many first-generation universities. We were also ranked the 7th Best University of Agriculture in the world, the Best in Africa, and 2nd in employability rating among all Nigerian universities. This speaks volumes of our commitment to producing graduates who are not only knowledgeable but shaped in character.”
Oba Olabomi emphasised that the outstanding rankings were the result of the tireless efforts of the University’s staff and a culture of excellence that permeates every level of FUNAAB. “Our staff members have not left any vacuum; they are diligently imparting knowledge and values. We urge you, as student leaders, to uphold and promote this legacy.”
He further charged the new SUG Executives to remain responsible, visionary, and cooperative with the University Management in fostering unity and maintaining FUNAAB’s reputation as a citadel of innovation, discipline, and academic excellence.

While referencing illustrious members of the FUNAAB community, the Pro-Chancellor highlighted the recent appointment of Prof. Jonathan Atungwu as Provost of the Federal College of Agriculture, Ibadan (FCAIB) and Prof. Flora Tobolayefa Oluwafemi, Vice-Chancellor of the Nigerian Maritime University (NMU), as evidence of the University’s robust academic pedigree.
Speaking on behalf of the student body, Comrade Olamilekan reaffirmed the Union’s readiness to partner with the University Administration in promoting peaceful coexistence and driving student-centred initiatives that align with FUNAAB’s vision.
Also present at the interactive session were the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Babatunde Kehinde; Registrar, Dr. Titus Adeniyi and an appointee of the Federal Government on the Council, Rt. Hon. Ayo Agbonmuserin, as well as all the Executive members of the Union, including the Student Representative Assembly (SRA) and the judicial arm.
The visit marked a renewed commitment to inclusive governance, dialogue, and continued progress within the University community.
