Professor Funso. O. AKINBODE has a professional and academic experience spanning 41 years. He obtained Master of Science (M.Sc) degree with specialization in Fuel Technology at Portsmouth Polytechnic, Britain in 1977 and Doctor of Philosophy degree (PhD) degree at The University of Aston, Birmingham in 1984. He worked briefly in the industry and started lecturing at The University of Aston before he joined Bayero University, Kano as Lecturer 1 in 1985. He became a Professor of Mechanical Engineering in 1994 and has published over 40 academic articles in international and local journals, peer reviewed conference proceedings, books and technical reports.
Professor Akinbode has supervised over; 40 Bachelors degree projects, 15 Masters projects and 5 PhD projects. His research interests include energy conservation, gasification of coal and biomass, biomass/biogas production and solar energy.
Professor Akinbode has been Head of Department, Dean, Chairman of various committees and Deputy Vice Chancellor. He is a registered engineer with Council for the Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria (COREN), member of various professional bodies such as Institute of Mechanical Engineers, Institute of Plant Engineers, Institute of Energy and a fellow of Nigerian Society of Engineers.
