The Senate of the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB), at its 230th Statutory Meeting, held today, April 24, 2025, elected Prof. Mufutau Atayese as the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Development). A seasoned academic from the Department of Plant Physiology and Crop Production (PPCP), College of Plant Science and Crop Production (COLPLANT), Prof. Atayese would serve a two-year term, effective from May 2, 2025, to May 1, 2027.

An accomplished scholar and the University’s 83rd Inaugural Lecturer, Prof. Atayese has served FUNAAB in several key capacities, including as Dean of COLPLANT, where he earned recognition for his visionary leadership, dedication to academic excellence, and unwavering commitment to the institution’s growth.

Also a former member of the University’s Governing Council, Prof. Atayese would bring to the role a rich blend of experience in teaching, research, and administrative service. His appointment is expected to further strengthen FUNAAB’s developmental strides as he takes the helm to drive the University’s strategic agenda forward.
