Prof. Atungwu Appointed Provost of FCAIB

Prof. Jonathan Atungwu, a distinguished expert in Plant Nematology from the Department of Crop Protection, College of Plant Science and Crop Production (COLPLANT), has been appointed as the Provost and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Federal College of Agriculture, Ibadan (FCAIB) for a term of five years.

A proud alumnus of FUNAAB, Prof. Atungwu has held several notable positions in both academic and administrative capacities. He previously served as Director of the Institute for Organic Agriculture and Green Economy and also as Acting Dean of the School of Agriculture at the Lagos State University (LASU), Epe Campus.

At FUNAAB, he distinguished himself in various leadership roles, including Director of the Centre for Community-Based Farming Scheme (COBFAS), Director of the Institute of Food Security, Environmental Resources and Agricultural Research (IFSERAR), and Dean of the College of Plant Science and Crop Production (COLPLANT), among others.

Until his appointment, he was a member of the University’s Governing Council, representing the Congregation, and was on Sabbatical Leave at the Lagos State University of Science and Technology (LASUSTECH).

The Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Babatunde Kehinde, has congratulated Prof. Atungwu on his well-deserved appointment and wished him continued success and impactful leadership at FCAIB.
