The Congregation of the University has elected two of its members to represent it on the Governing Council, while it endorsed another through voice vote, to represent the body in the Senate.
Elected to serve on the Council were the duo of Professor O. A. Enikuomehin of the Department of Crop Protection and Dr. Olusola Akinwande of the University’s Health Centre.
While Prof. Enikuomehin, an academic staff, polled 456 votes, his Non-Teaching counterpart, Dr. Akinwande scored 277 votes.
On the other hand, Dr. O. A. Akinloye of the Department of Biochemistry secured the ticket of Congregation to represent it in Senate, through a popular voice vote.
The Acting Registrar hinted that the slot for the second congregation representative in Senate will be filled later as the candidate presented by the Academic Staff Union of the University, (ASSU), UNAAB Branch was found to have a case pending before the Staff Disciplinary Committee.
The elections were conducted by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic), Professor Chyrss Onwuka, who represented the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Oluwafemi Olaiya Balogun, in conjunction with the Acting Registrar, Mr. Adeleke Adeboye, who served as the Returning Officer.
UNAAB Bulletin crew observed that the elections, which took place under a congenial atmosphere, was free and fair, as well as hitch-free.
