Prof. Eruvbetine, now retired, stated that her decision to donate the hostel was a gesture of gratitude to the University where she served with distinction for many years.

A former member of the University’s Governing Council, she said that the hostel’s name of ‘Thomasville’ should be maintained in honour of her late father.

Speaking after signing and receiving the hostel’s building documents, the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Babatunde Kehinde expressed his heartfelt appreciation for Prof. Eruvbetine’s benevolence.

“This is a rare gesture. You could have sold it and kept the money, but you chose to leave a lasting legacy for the University,” he remarked.

Prof. Kehinde highlighted that the 32-bed hostel would significantly enhance the University’s accommodation capacity for both male and female students, particularly benefiting those in the Institute of Human Resources Development (INHURD).

According to him, the University has only one male and female hostel and this would give additional space to the students with more income for the University.

The Vice-Chancellor, therefore, assured Prof. Eruvbetine that the hostel’s name of Thomasville would be maintained.
