The Vice-Chancellor, Professor Oluwafemi Olaiya Balogun adds another year to his highly meritorious, colourful and active life as he turns 57 tomorrow, October 19, 2010.
Professor Balogun assumed the leadership of the University as its fourth substantive Vice-Chancellor over three years ago, after a fulfilling academic career at the University of Ilorin.
As the Chief Servant of UNAAB, his name has become household, doubtlessly synonymous with discipline, prudence, moral and academic excellence.
The Vice-Chancellor is reputed to be the architect of the ‘new improved’ UNAAB, given his penchant for a radically massive infrastructural and academic development, transforming the University to be one
of the leading higher educational institutions in Africa, with favourable global reckoning.
A workaholic, Professor Balogun is currently on an official tour of the United States, having been nominated alongside eight selected Vice-Chancellors in Nigeria on an international Visitor Leadership
Programme (VOLVIS), by the US Department of State.
Perhaps, the biggest birthday package to be received by the iconic Vice-Chancellor is the conferment of the Fellowship Award on him tomorrow by the Agricultural Society of Nigeria.
His radiant spouse, Professor Mrs. Elizabeth Abidemi Balogun will stand-in for him to receive the prestigious award at Ladoke Akintola University of Technology, Ogbomoso, Oyo State.
Members of the University have however been resolute in ensuring that a befitting birthday ceremony was organized for Professor Balogun with a tentative date set for Tuesday, October 26, 2010.
