Professor O. A. Bamiro had his secondary school education at Molusi College, Ijebu-lgbo, He thereafter proceeded as Shell Scholar to the Nottingham University, Nottingham, England for his first degree graduating with a Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) degree in Mechanical Engineering, First Class Honours, 1971

Between 1972 and 1975, Professor Bamiro attended McGill University, Montreal, Canada where he completed his Doctorate (Ph.D.) degree.

He joined the service of the University of Ibadan and was promoted Senior Lecturer, 1978; Reader, 1981 and the first Professor of Mechanical Engineering in 1983. He has served the University in various capacities which include Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Administration) and Vice-Chancellor of the University of Ibadan in December 1, 2005 for a period of five years.
