Professor Mufutau Adekojo Waheed of the Department of Mechanical Engineering has emerged as the new Director of Academic Planning of the University.

A release signed for the Registrar by Mr. Adeleke Adeboye, said the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Oluwafemi Olaiya Balogun has approved the appointment which took effect from Monday, September 13, 2010 for a three-year tenure.

He will be replacing Professor K.A Okeleye whose has just tenure expired.

The release added that the appointment was in recognition of Professor Waheed’s academic capability for academic leadership as well as his positive contributions to the development of the University.

Professor Waheed had both his Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Mechanical Engineering, from the University of Ilorin before proceeding to the Aachen University of Technology (RWTH) Aachen, Germany, for his Ph.D which he obtained in 2001.

He was Best University Scholar and Best Graduating Student in the Mechanical Engineering Department of the University of Ilorin in 1990.

The new Director is a member of the Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE) and until his appointment was the Deputy Dean, College of Engineering of the University.
