In a heartwarming display of compassion, the Rotary Club of Obantoko has stepped in to cover the school fees of a fresh student at the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB).
During a Courtesy Visit to the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Babatunde Kehinde, the Rotary Club presented a cheque of N150,000 to Miss Deborah Jooda, a newly-admitted student in the Department of Agricultural Administration (AGAD), College of Agricultural Management and Rural Development (COLAMRUD).
Speaking at the meeting, the President of the Rotary Club of Obantoko, Rotarian Kazeem Alabi commended the University Management, particularly Prof. Babatunde Kehinde, for his outstanding achievements since assuming office.
He expressed gratitude for the University’s decision to extend assistance to Miss Deborah Jooda when she faced challenges in paying her fees, noting that such acts of support are integral to the Rotary Club’s ethos of aiding those in need.
Reeling out some of the Club’s recent projects, Rotarian Alabi mentioned the successful intervention in the case of a five-year-old girl from FUNAAB Staff School who suffered a leg injury in a motorcycle accident.
According to him, with the Rotary Club’s assistance, the girl had since recovered the ability to walk.
He added that the club has contributed to improving sanitation facilities at Moshood Abiola Nursery and Primary School, Fajol, and has supported underprivileged students at Orekete Primary School, Odeda Local Government Area.
Rotarian Alabi stressed the need for the Rotary Club to work hand in hand with the University to promote progress and development.
Responding to the gesture, the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Babatunde Kehinde who was represented by Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Academic, Prof. Olukayode Akinyemi, expressed gratitude for the support extended to the student and other projects undertaken by the Rotary Club.
The Vice-Chancellor pledged the University’s commitment to partner with the club to make a lasting impact on the University.
Highpoint was the presentation of the Rotary Club’s Four-Way Test to the University.
