RTEAN Visits FUNAAB, Seeks Collaboration with ICGNS

The Ogun State Branch of the Road Transport Employers Association of Nigeria (RTEAN) has expressed its intention to collaborate with the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB), through the Institute for Communication and General Studies (ICGNS), with a focus on the Peace and Development Studies Programme.

Addressing the visiting RTEAN team, today, November 6, 2025, the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Babatunde Kehinde, who was represented by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Development), Prof. Olawale Dairo, commended RTEAN for identifying with the University’s training initiatives. He described the visit as a commendable step towards strengthening institutional collaboration for societal development.

According to him, “The transport sector is a very demanding one that requires a high level of expertise and resilience. Partnering with FUNAAB is an excellent decision that you will never regret.” The Vice-Chancellor assured the team of the University’s commitment to providing impactful and practical training that aligns with RTEAN’s vision for peace and professional growth.

In her remarks, the Director of ICGNS, Prof. Remi Aduradola, described the RTEAN team as “special people projecting the true spirit of what FUNAAB stands for, an institution deeply engaged in building unity and fostering peace behind the scenes.” She expressed optimism that the emerging partnership would “bring out the best in all of us.”

Also speaking, the Programme Leader, Peace and Development Studies, ICGNS, appreciated the visitors for their proactive engagement and understanding of the University’s value proposition. She added that a follow-up meeting would soon be convened for RTEAN to further outline its contributions to the collaboration.

Responding on behalf of the association, Comrade Tiwalade Akingbade, Secretary of RTEAN Ogun State Branch, thanked the University Management for the warm reception, reaffirming the Association’s readiness to participate in the forthcoming 3-Day Conflict Resolution Programme. He disclosed that 40 members had already indicated interest, with more expected to join. “We believe in peace; where there is peace, we can grow in business and uphold our social contract,” he said.

Present at the meeting were the Registrar, Dr. Titus Adeniyi; Bursar, Mr. Olukayode Osinuga; Deputy Registrar, Executive Affairs, Office of the Vice-Chancellor,, Mr. Moses Ayanda, other top officials of ICGNS; and senior officers of RTEAN Ogun State Branch.
