Safety Club Honours Staff

The FUNAAB Safety Club, Detachment 2019 regime, has honoured its officials for their support and dedication to the development of the club. Awardees include the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Development), Prof. Clement Adeofun of the Department of Environmental Management and Toxicology, College of Environmental Resources Management (COLERM), who was decorated as Patron; a former Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic), Prof. Chryss Onwuka of the Department of Animal Nutrition, College of Animal Science and Livestock Production (COLANIM), who was decorated as Grand Patron; while the Director, Centre for Entrepreneurial Studies (CENTS), Prof. Babatunde Adewumi, was also honoured as Grand Patron.

The Chief Laboratory Scientist, Mrs. Olukemi Fashina, of the Department of Water Resources Management and Agrometeorology (COLERM), who is a State Matron, was decorated as Staff Adviser, while the Principal Assistant Registrar (Senate and Admissions), Mrs. Hannah Adejumobi was honoured as Staff Adviser. Other awardees are the Principal Analytical Cartographer, Department of Water Resources Management and Agro Meteorology (COLERM), Mr. Joseph Adesuyi; and Senior Information Officer, Vice-Chancellor’s Office, Mr. Olasunkanmi Olajide, who are now Staff Advisers and were decorated by the current Cadet-in-Chief, Cadet Oreoluwa Onayemi. Speaking at the event, the immediate past Cadet-in-Chief, Statesman Adetoyese Oduguwa appreciated members of staff and members of FUNAAB community for their relentless efforts at making the safety club to achieve its set goals and objectives.

Showcasing the achievements recorded in the past year, Statesman Oduguwa informed the gathering that the club was now affiliated with the Nigeria Safety Club, which has its headquarters in the University. According to him, FUNAAB Safety Club would, as a matter of duty, establish another safety club at the Federal College of Education, Osiele, Abeokuta. Prof. Onwuka, a Grand Patron, congratulated the club on its last passing-out parade saying, “FUNAAB Safety Club has come a long way and we are quite joyful to be part of the safety family’’. He advised members of the club to endeavour to standout and become role models for safety clubs in other institutions. The Grand Patron further encouraged them to keep up the good works, though tasking, it would be rewarded.
