In a bid to improve their productivity in the University, some secretaries and administrators have participated at the 5th Information and Communications Technology (ICT) Executive Workshop, organised by the Nigeria Computer Society (NCS), Ogun State Chapter, themed "Advanced e-Document Management Techniques".
The Chairperson, Ogun State Chapter of the Society, Dr. Bukola Onashoga, said the workshop was held in FUNAAB, to enable the University appreciate better the benefits of Information Technology while "the objective of the workshop was to provide the platform for building and enhancing ICT skills of participants".
She noted that attending the workshop would improve the job performance of participants, adding that such workshops had been held at other State and Federal Government-owned Institutions, as well as for secondary school proprietors and health sector professionals.
In his lecture titled, "Maintenance and Installation Techniques", Mr. Akintunde Olubiyi of the Department of Computer Science, College of Physical Sciences (COLPHYS), described hardware as what can be seen or touched, adding that software were those components that one cannot see nor touch in a computer system, noting that "once a system does not work properly, it might have virus and one should get an antivirus to make it work properly".
Mr. Sodiq Onaolapo of the Centre for Innovation and Strategy in Learning and Teaching (CISLT), whose lecture was titled, "Internet Technologies", disclosed that the Internet had made the world easy in terms of communication, while Mr. Sanni Waheed of the Information and Communications Technology Resources Centre (ICTREC) spoke on, "Preparation of Presentation Slides", a hands-on-real practical session. In addition, Mr. Niyi Orisakiya of ICTREC gave the lecture titled, "Tips for Mobile Phone/Devices Usage for Effective Administration", as Mr. Tunde Tijani of the NCS, Ogun State Chapter, spoke on the topic, "Advanced e-Document Processing Technique".
Dr. Bukola Onashoga’s lecture was titled, "Research Design and Methodology", where she described research as an enquiry into a problem while its intention is to find a solution to a formalised and systematic approach involving the collection, analysis and interpretation of data, stressing that the main reason for carrying out a research was to contribute to knowledge.
