Introduction
The Procurement Unit of Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta was established in March 2010 as part of implementation of provision of Public Procurement Act of 2007. The Unit is under the office of the Vice-Chancellor and headed by a Procurement Officer.
Aim and Objectives
- To ensure strict adherence and compliance with the provision of the Public Procurement Act 2007.
- To ensure that project conceptualization and packaging match the defined priorities and targets in the University’s budget and procurement plans.
- To ensure that all contract processes are conducted in transparent, competitive and efficient manner and in strict compliance with Public Procurement Act 2007 and extant guidelines on award of contract in public service to achieve value for money.
- To ensure efficient and integrity-based procurement processes.
- To ensure cost reasonableness, accuracy and competitiveness.
- To ensures that “due process” measures are observed in the execution of the University’s Contracts and Procurements by following laid down rules and regulations of both the Public Procurement Act 2007 and the University.
Functions of Procurement Unit
The Procurement Unit handles all procurement matters under Capital and Recurrent Expenditure of the University as follows:
- Tender processing and evaluation
- Certification of all Capital and Recurrent procurement
- Secretariat of the Tenders Board and Procurement Planning Committee
- Liaising with the Bureau of Public Procurement and other regulatory agencies
- Processing of procurement and related matters for the University
- Board of Survey

The Unit works in collaboration with Sub-Committee of Tenders Board namely, Procurement Planning Committee (PPC), Tender Opening Committee (TOC) and Technical/Financial Evaluation Committee. The sub-committees submit their reports to Tenders Board for further consideration and approval.
