The Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Babatunde Kehinde, has admonished the new student leaders who were sworn in today, September 3, 2024, to see the University Management as partners in progress in all their endeavours.

The Vice-Chancellor gave the admonition during the Swearing-in Ceremony for the 2024/2025 student leadership into the FUNAAB Executive Council (FEC) and the Students’ Representative Assembly (SRA).

Prof. Kehinde, in his address, emphasised that the University Management is a partner in progress with the Student Union, advising them to manage resources judiciously and fulfil their campaign promises to the students.

The Vice-Chancellor congratulated the outgoing President, Com. Meshach Nwankwo, and the new President, Com. Ibraheem Adeyemi, and his team. He urged the new leadership to be of good character, consult, and dialogue to succeed, adding that the leadership position would shape them into good ambassadors of the University.

The Dean of Student Affairs, Prof. Festus Adeosun, promised the new student leaders of the Student Affairs Division unflinching support and charged them to be of good character, knowing they operate under the confines of the law.

He advised the new leadership to prioritise student security and report any security threats to the appropriate authority.

The Immediate Past President, Com. Meshach Nwankwo advised the new leadership to maintain peace and harmony on campus through consultation and dialogue. He charged them to prioritise their studies and never leave the students they lead behind.

In his acceptance speech, the new President, Com. Ibraheem Adeyemi thanked the University Management and staff for their support and pledged to serve without fear or favour.

The ceremony was witnessed by several dignitaries, including the Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Academic, Prof. Olukayode Akinyemi; the Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Development, Prof. Kola Adebayo; the Acting Registrar, Mrs. Oluwatoyin Dawodu; and the Dean, College of Food Science and Human Ecology (COLFHEC), Prof. Adebukunola Omemu.

Others were the Students Affairs Officer, Mrs. Wuraola Badmus; the Student Union Matron, Mrs. Oluwakemi Fasina; the University Legal Officer, Mrs. Olanrewaju Tanimowo and some other past Presidents of FUNAABSU, such as Com. Tijjani Habbebullahi (Kennyology) and Com. Oluwaseyi Ale.
