Female members of the Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities (SSANU), have been charged to take their rightful positions in the University system even as new officers have been elected to run the affairs of the National Women Committee.
Speaking on the topic, “Leadership Position: Breaking Through The Glass Ceiling” at the 2nd SSANU National Women Conference, held at Michael Imoudu National Institute for Labour Studies (MINILS) Ilorin, Kwara State recently, the Guest Lecturer, Mrs. M.O Folorunsho said it was high time for female Senior Non-Teaching Staff to brace up for leadership roles and responsibilities in the University.
She pointed out that their place in the scheme of things in the University was no longer at the corridor of power but at the centre stage of administration of the nation’s Ivory Towers.
Mrs. Folorunsho pointed out that for the female senior staff to take their place of pride in the University, they must be disciplined, courageous, visionary and result-oriented.
Sharing their experiences at the Conference, UNAAB SSANU representatives, Comrade (Mrs.) Bola Magbagbeade who is the branch Vice-Chairman and a Congress member, Mrs. Adebesin, said the conference had equipped them for leadership responsibilities.
Meanwhile, Comrade Hadiza Kabiru has emerged the National Women Leader of National Women Committee.
Others are Obioma Anyanwu, Deputy Women Leader (Eastern Zone), Suzan Dayo (Northern Zone) and Bimpe Ojulari (Western Zone).
