As activities for the year 2023 gradually unfolds, the Senior Staff Association of Nigeria Universities (SSANU), FUNAAB Chapter has in its first gathering for the year offered prayers to usher in the year.
During the prayer section, prayer for peace and progress in the University and Nigeria at large was offered and the Congregation committed the coming selection and election process of the new Vice-Chancellor new leaders in Nigeria into God’s hand.
Addressing the Congregation, SSANU-FUNAAB Chairman, Comrade Rotimi Fasunwon admonished members to always appreciate God as far as they are alive.
Acknowledging God’s intervention during last year’s industrial strike, he noted that the situations of many University workers would have been worst as a result of hardship and non-payment of salary for some months during the year.
He also appreciated the outgone administration of Prof. Kolawole Salako-led administration for approving many requests of SSANU which led to member’s promotions and conversions.
He reiterated the idea of Health walk which the union championed last year, describing it as a success for the union. He charged members to always exercise their body as it is a good way of keeping fit and healthy.
Members also observe a minute silent for the late Mrs. Bukola Fatinoye, who died on Sunday, January 1st, this year with her family members. Comrade Fasunwon prayed that SSANU and FUNAAB Community should not witness such an ugly incident again.
