In a ceremony filled with reverence and gratitude, Mrs. Omolara Bamgbose bade farewell to her long career at the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB).
The event, held at the FUNAAB Staff School premises on February 21, 2024, was a testament to her unwavering dedication and impact.
Mrs. Bamgbose, a Chartered Accountant, served as the Accountant in the FUNAAB Staff School until her retirement.
Colleagues, friends, and students alike gathered to honour her contributions to the University Community.
Speaking at the event, the Head Teacher, Mrs. Bukola Alade commended Mrs. Bamgbose as a paragon of humility and a mentor in the accounting profession.
Quoting from Psalm 103 verses 1 and 2, she urged Mrs. Bamgbose to always acknowledge the blessings bestowed upon her.
The Chairman, Senior Staff Association Nigerian Universities (SSANU), Comrade Olurotimi Fasunwon recounted a pivotal moment where Mrs. Bamgbose’s expertise averted a financial crisis, saving the Association from potential embarrassment.
He hailed her as a motherly figure whose impact extended far beyond her official duties.
Mrs. Comfort Dasaolu, representing the Ag. Bursar, echoed these sentiments, highlighting Mrs. Bamgbose’s humility and indispensable role in the University’s Bursary Department.
She expressed gratitude to the Staff School for organising a fitting send forth for someone not directly affiliated with it, a rare gesture that underscored Mrs. Bamgbose’s profound influence.
The event climaxed with cultural performances by pupils and the presentation of gifts to Mrs. Bamgbose, symbolising the deep appreciation felt by all present.
As Mrs. Omolara Bamgbose embarks on the next chapter of her life, her legacy of service and compassion would undoubtedly endure, leaving an indelible mark on the FUNAAB community.
