The University Staff School, has moved to its permanent site on Alabata Road, main campus of the University. This is after a period of fifteen years at the mini-campus, Isale-Igbein, a property which was leased from the Anglican Communion. Speaking at the colourful commissioning ceremony, the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Olusola Oyewole,who was visibly elated, reminded the pupils that they were the future of the country. He admonished all present that “what we do with the children now will determine the future of the country”.
Prof. Olusola Oyewole expressed appreciation to the founding fathers of the University for initiating the idea of the Staff School. The state of the art edifice, as well as the products of school were worth being proud of. The new building also boasts of modern furniture and equipment, aside the large compound and beautiful landscape. The University Staff School has some luxurious buses that can take over 90 pupils at time from Abeokuta town to the school campus. Professor Oyewole expressed satisfaction that sixteen out of the twenty five inherited projects he met on assumption of office had been completed in less than a year, with a resolve not to allow any inherited project remain uncompleted.
The Head Teacher of FUNAAB Staff School, Mrs. Florence Alade, was glad that the school has now moved to its “Canaan Land”. Bishop (Prof.) Dapo Asaju, the Rector of Crowder Graduate Theological Seminary, former “landlords” of the school stated in an emotion-laden voice, that the Anglican Communion would indeed miss FUNAAB Staff School.
The occasion was attended by Principal Officers, Deans, Directors, Heads of Departments/Units, including the Chairman, FUNAAB Staff School Board, Professor Toyin Arowolo. Others include the Chairman-Elect of the Parents Teachers Association (PTA), Dr. Amzat Mohammed, the outgoing Chairman of the Association, Mr. Yemi Ajibola, the Principal of FUNAAB International School, Mrs. Adeola Olumide and former Acting Headmistress of the Staff School, Mrs. Olufunmilayo Barnabas.
