Short Profile

Dr. (Mrs) Sarah Irherhimena Adegbaye is currently a Senior Librarian at the Federal University of Agriculture Abeokuta, Ogun State. She is currently the Head of the Serials Department of Nimbe Adedipe Library, FUNAAB. Her higher education journey began at Delta State University, Abraka where she obtained her Bachelor’s degree from the department of Library and Information Science in 2005.  She started her career journey when she was assigned to the Federal University of Agriculture Abeokuta, for her National Youth Corp Service in the year 2006. Following her NYSC year, she worked at Taidob College as the school librarian in 2007 for a year.

In 2009, she officially became a staff of the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta, as an Assistant Librarian. Shortly after securing the job, she pursued her master’s degree at the University of Ibadan, completing it within 18 months with a PhD grade. She furthered her education by obtaining a doctorate degree from Babcock University, Ilishan, Ogun State in 2017 and by 2020, she had earned her PhD.

Over time, Dr. Adegbaye has advanced from the position of assistant librarian to her present position as a senior librarian. She is a researcher and scholar in library and information science with over 22 publications in both local and international journals and two chapter-in-book publications to her credit.

Dr. Adegbaye’s experience spans various departments of the library including readers services, acquisitions, automation, cataloguing and classification and serials departments, making her well-versed with library routines.  In addition to her library duties, she also serves as a faculty member in the communication and general studies department where library and information science is included. She instructs both undergraduate and post-graduate students.

Dr. Adegbaye is a Certified Librarian of Nigeria (CLN). She is a registered member of the Nigerian Association of Nigeria (NLA); Librarians’ Registration Council of Nigeria (LRCN); Nigerian Library Association (NLA); IT Section and Association of Women Librarians in Nigeria (AWLIN); Nigerian Library Association (NLA), Academic and Research Library Section (ARLS).
