Adenekan Alamin Adedeji is an environmental researcher and academic affiliated with the Centre of Excellence in Agricultural Development and Sustainable Environment (CEADESE), Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB), with research interests aligned with Environmental Systems and Climate Change. He holds an M.Sc. in Environmental Management and Protection and a B.Sc. in Environmental Management and Toxicology from FUNAAB.
His research focuses on environmental pollution, environmental health, human health risk assessment, toxicological assessment of contaminants, climate change, sustainable development, environmental policy, and geospatial approaches to environmental management. A central theme of his work is understanding how environmental contaminants affect food systems, ecosystems, and human health, particularly within developing-country settings.
He has contributed to peer-reviewed studies examining potentially toxic metals in local and imported rice brands and their implications for human health, as well as essential and non-essential metals in commonly consumed vegetables. His scholarly outputs have appeared in journals including the Journal of Food Composition and Analysis and Vegetos. He has also contributed to research applying Geographic Information Systems, Remote Sensing, and multi-criteria decision analysis to environmentally sustainable waste-management planning and climate-smart environmental decision-making. His work also bridges laboratory-based environmental assessment with applied sustainability research, translating evidence into solutions relevant to communities and institutions.
Beyond research, his academic interests include teaching, student mentorship, research development, scientific communication, environmental awareness, and capacity building. He has also contributed to Environmental Impact Assessment processes and environmental documentation supporting evidence-based planning and regulatory decision-making.
His broader scholarly goal is to generate practical, policy-relevant evidence that strengthens environmental governance, reduces environmental and public-health risks, advances climate resilience, and supports sustainable development in Nigeria and comparable developing-country contexts.
