Short Profile

Professor Olusola John Adeniran holds a Bachelor of Science (BSc), Mathematics and Master of Science (MSc) in Mathematics from Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife. Osun State, He also obtained his Doctor of Philosophy Degree (PhD) in Mathematics from the University of Agriculture, Abeokuta in 2002. He started his academic Career as a Graduate Assistant at the Obafemi Awolowo University in May, 1995 and later moved to the University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB) in January 1998 when his PhD supervisor transferred his services to FUNAAB. I rose through the ranks to become a Professor of Mathematics on October 1, 2011.

In my foray in the Academics, I have had to the opportunity of serving the University systems in many capacities including Assistant Coordinator of the Pre-degree  programme (2002 – 2004), Coordinator of Department of Mathematical Sciences (2003 – 2004), Head of Department of Mathematics (2006-2009), Deputy Dean, College of Natural Sciences (2009 - 2012) during which I acted as the Dean cumulatively for five months all at the FUNAAB. I was at the National Mathematical Centre (NMC), Abuja on Sabbatical leave as a Research Professor at the Centre from January 2013 to June 2014 during which I was Dean, School of Mathematical Studies of the Centre and the Technical Adviser to the Director and Chief Executive of the Centre. Between June and December 2014 I served as Technical Adviser to the Director and Chief Executive Officer of the NMC on Part-time basis. In January 2015 I was invited back to the NMC in January 2015 to continue as the Technical Adviser to the Director and CEO as the Coordinator of NMC/UNESCO Professorial Chair in Mathematics. My responsibilities in this appointment include organizing relevant workshops and seminars aimed at making Pure Mathematics attractive particularly amongst beginning graduate students and junior academics. On returned to FUNAAB in September, 2016 I was elected into the Business Committee of Senate and later appointed as the Director, Academic Planning of the University for a three-year-tenure ending in February 2020. In the course of my stewardship as Director Academic Planning I was able to raise the number of Fully Accredited Undergraduate Programmes of FUNAAB from nineteen (19) when I took over to twenty-eight (28) out of twenty-nine (29) when I completed my tenure. This is apart from provision of up-to-date Statistics from which adequate decisions are taken by the University.
